About Us

We are the NJMSC. Here to help. One hand at a time.

The COVID-19 New Jersey Medical Student Coalition is a mobilizing Medical Student Initiative put forth by medical students across the state. We work alongside with the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ) and the Medical Student Section (MSS). Our goal is to collect medical supplies such as N95/99 masks, face shields, sterile gloves, latex gloves, protective eye wear, as well as other necessary supplies for NJ hospitals state wide.

Our Mission

Our Mission

During these unprecedented times when this pandemic has been unforgiving to our fellow Americans and has placed our healthcare workers on the frontlines, medical students across New Jersey have come together to lend a hand. We are mobilizing medical students and gathering resources to serve our communities. From creating face shields and gathering personal protective equipment to delivering groceries and coordinating convalescent blood donations, our coalition is taking initiatives to help fight this disease. As our nation and state continue to face this challenge, our commitment as medical students will always be the same: stepping up to ensure the safety and health of our citizens.

Statement from the President

The Coronavirus Pandemic has dramatically altered the lives of many people throughout New Jersey, especially the lives of ourhealthcare workers. The pandemic has brought longstandinghealthcare issues such as the shortage of personal protective equipment and the disproportionate impact of disease on minority populations to the forefront of care. COVID-19 has demanded our healthcare system to improve for the safety of healthcare workers and New Jersey communities. As future medical professionals, my peers and I are committed tosupporting and improving our health system through the New Jersey Medical Student Coalition (NJMSC).

NJMSC consists of innovative future healthcare professionals dedicated to serving our healthcare system throughout our careers. The goal of NJMSC is to provide for our providers. We recognize problems in the healthcare stem from internal issues within our healthcare system as well as external issues within our communities. From distributing personal protective equipment to medical facilities to promoting public health education, providing for our providers means to support our healthcare system and our communities as a whole. NJMSC stresses the impact volunteers can have on healthcare beyond providing direct medical or dental care. Our initiatives showcase the ability of future healthcare professionals to provide for our current system and work toward future improvement.

As students, we were forced to watch our future colleagues battle COVID-19 from the sidelines. The pandemic challenged us to help our healthcare system without physically being in hospitals and offices. Difficulties posed by COVID-19 brought about opportunities to provide healthcare support through direct aid and public health education. As my peers and I move into the workforce, we hope to continue our work to support andimprove healthcare in New Jersey as well as encourage other future medical professionals to join us in our mission to provide for providers.

Statement from the Vice President

Hello! My name is Brittany Snow and I am the current Vice President of our organization, the NJMS Coalition COVID 19 Initiative, and a 4th year medical student at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. I am from South Jersey and I previously played four years of Division I basketball at Stony Brook University. I joined this organization because I am pursuing a career in Emergency Medicine and early on in the COVID 19 pandemic, realized how critical the need for PPE was for my future fellow colleagues. As a group we engineered ways to help while still conserving the PPE for our essential healthcare workers. COVID 19 affected every facet of our lives and the way our members were able to adapt and meet those challenges was truly astounding. Thank you to everyone who has donated their time or money to our mission of protecting our healthcare workers. I look forward to one day shaking your hand (hygienically of course!).
